Nurse’s Corner Mrs. Buhl
Welcome to S.H.E.S. clinic!
I am Sheila Buhl and I am assigned to Signal Hill Elementary School as your full time nurse. I am a registered nurse with a B.S. in Professional Arts with a Business Major and hold a Masters Degree in Community Health & Wellness. My experience includes 10 years in various units at Prince William Hospital , as well as, 17 years public health/school health. Currently this is my 6th year at Signal Hill Elementary. It is a pleasure to work with your children!
If your children have special medical needs, we have forms available for diabetic needs, treatments, medications and procedures in the clinic. We have also included links to documents from Prince William County Schools at www.pwcs.edu.
Medications given at school require permission forms and original containers. Please, pay special attention to age-appropriate medications. Adult medications cannot be given to children without a doctor’s order. It is also important to carefully check expiration dates on all medications. Each child must have his own medications and forms filled out. The medications are filed and locked up in the clinic.
Here are some of the regulations and forms that you should find helpful:
- 755-1 Immunization Requirement
- 723-4 Tuberculosis Screening
- 757-2 Allergy Action Form (Required for Epi-Pen)
- 757-3 Guidelines and Form for School Staff to Carry Out Health Treatments and/or Emergency Treatment Procedures in the School Setting
- 757-4 Administration of Medication
- 757-5 Asthma Medication Authorization Form
- 757-6 Diabetic Health Treatment Plan/Administration of Insulin/Glucagon
- 757-7 Management of Epileptic Seizures in the School Setting
I look forward to a happy and healthy year for all children at Signal Hill!!
Sheila A. Buhl, R.N. M.S.
