Curriculum Notes:
Language Arts
The students will become increasingly independent readers of a variety of literary forms. They will begin to develop skills needed for effective research. Emphasis will be placed on selecting and narrowing a topic, formulating questions to research, and finding suitable sources of information. Later the students will be involved in gathering and recording information in an efficient manner.
Math
The students are working on solving problems with fractions and percents. They will identify fractions and their percent equivalents, compare and order fractions, and add and subtract fractions and mixed numbers.
Science
We are currently working on our Life Science unit. This unit incorporates the 5 Basic Kingdoms, vertebrates and invertebrates, and vascular and non-vascular plants. Our next unit of study will be Matter.
Social Studies
We will continue to focus on the American Northeast and the American Southeast. We will investigate the various themes of geography to include landforms, climate, political life, industry and economy, and early history.
Happy Thanksgiving!
