National Young Readers Day
November 10, 2009
Members of Osbourn Park High School' FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) visited our school on National Young Readers Day to share their love of reading. Signal Hill students were very enthusiastic about these celebrity readers who chose great books from our library, practiced their presentations, and teamed up to make this a special day for each of our classes. Our thanks to the FBLA, the business students who made bookmarks, and especially Mrs. Riddle, advisor for the FBLA, for making it all happen!
To see photos of the high schoolers in our classrooms, click on Class Pages tab (above) and go to the Library/Media Class Page. Open the "OPHS Students Read to Us!" folder to share in the fun!
REDSKINS READ
October marks the beginning of a reading challenge for our students. It's called Redskins Read! To celebrate football season AND our love of reading we're challenging each student to read at home EVERY NIGHT! Students keep track of their reading minutes and every class will try to meet their weekly goal to get a FIRST DOWN on our footbal field of reading. How many TOUCHDOWNS can your class score? Turn in reading logs every Monday to find out!

We're moving down the field!

LIBRARY NOTES:
Signal Hill is fortunate to have a really wonderful library collection and very enthusiastic patrons. I hope you will encourage your child to visit regularly and read, read, read!
The library belongs to ALL of us, and we try very hard to take care of the books in our collection so they may be enjoyed for years to come. Please keep in mind a few specific requests:
- Books are due on or before the date stamped inside the back cover.
- Overdue books must be returned before a student can borrow any others.
- Books should be kept in a place where they are easily found, yet out of reach to young children and dogs and wolverines.
- Kindergarteners and First Graders may borrow 1 book at a time.
- Second and Third Graders may borrow 2 books at a time.
- Fourth and Fifth Graders may borrow 3 books at a time.
