Ms. Cindy Wrenn, Principal

I have always wanted to be a teacher and I am a spirited education graduate of George Mason University. Go Patriots!    I began my career teaching at Rockledge and then Nokesville Elementary Schools. During that time I earned my M. Ed in Curriculum and Instruction with an Endorsement in K-12 Administration.  I was also a writer/researcher for WNVT, an educational television network.  Then I taught middle school students at Beville and Stonewall until I was selected to become a Staff Development Specialist for PWC.   From that position I was chosen to be the Assistant Principal at Parkside Elementary.  A year later, I helped open Signal Hill and I have been here ever since! This is my fourth year as principal.  I believe strongly in lifelong learning and I have begun work on my Ph.D. in Ed. Leadership at GMU.

I am from a family of educators.  Both of my grandmothers, Luella and Virginia, taught in one room schools and my father, Air Force Col. Bud Wrenn, a scientist, taught at the college level. My sister, Lori Brickley, and my mother, Janet Wrenn, have worked for Prince William County Schools for many years. All of them gave me a deep love of children and education.  I also have two amazing daughters, Kate, 26, an artist and Meg, 23, a graduate of Mary Washington in Literature.

My guiding belief as an educator is, “No significant learning occurs without a significant relationship based on mutual respect.”(Comer)  I want to make sure each student at Signal Hill knows he or she is special to me and that he or she will succeed and excel here. This is an amazing school with truly inspired teachers and incredible students.  I look forward to each and every day with your children.  Please don't hesitate to call or email.  I have an open door policy and enjoy and look forward to hearing from you.  My phone number is 703-530-7541 and my email is wrenncl@pwcs.edu.
